How do i stop my hair from standing on end?

Everytime i shower in the morning and dry my hair with a towel my hair starts to stand on end, this seems to last about till the evening which is when it starts to look more normal.
I use vo5 shampoo(volume, i think) everyday if that makes a difference

it really annoys me becuase i would like to grow my hair but it just looks too messy in the morning.
PLEASE HELP ME i’ve had this problem for about a couple of years now.

why does my hair stand up?

Ok, I asked this earlier today but I got two completely opposite answers. When I run my hands through my hair, it stays in whatever position I bring it to. It is like I gelled it, but really there is nothing there but my hair. Is this because my hair is too dry or too greasy?
Ok, consensus seems to be that it is too greasy, how the hell do I fix this without murdering my hair? Whenever I shampoo, my head/hair gets really itchy, even if I use conditioner too.

To calm our 8 week old baby Logan, the hair dryer is the foolproof white noise machine. Baby quiets down instantly. (But if he is hungry, then nothing works but milk.)
